We’re part of the WordPress Family

Update at 07:21, 07/09/2013:

We’ve just had another nomination for the WordPress Family Award from The Old PS3 Gamer. The tagline may say that it’s an ‘unassuming little blog for reviewing PS3 games’ but we think it’s much more than that – make sure you check it out if you don’t know the site already.

Update at 21:24, 05/09/2013:

We’ve just received word that the amazing The Dad, Gentleman Geek has also nominated us for the WordPress Family Award also. We’re looking forward to meeting up with him soon and sharing a couple of beers!

Today has been a great day. We’ve had many memorable experiences and the opportunity to meet so many lovely people over the past seven months, but today is one we’ll never forget: we were nominated for our first award.

Featured - We're part of the WordPress Family

John Heatz, a gamer and writer with an amazing blog, nominated 1001-Up.com for the WordPress Family award today. It’s an absolute honour to receive a nomination from someone with so much talent and we’re extremely honoured. A big thank you to John, along with everyone else who has supported us since the beginning of the year; to be part of such an astounding community is inspiring and we’re indebted to you all.

The WordPress Family Award was started by Shaun from Praying For One Day in April 2013. According to the man himself: “This is an award for everyone who is part of the WordPress Family. I start this award on the basis that the WordPress family has taken me in, and showed me love and a caring side only WordPress can. The way people take a second to be nice, to answer a question and not make things a competition amazes me here… This represents ‘Family’ we never meet, but are there for us as family. It is my honour to start this award.”

If you’re nominated for the award, the following rules must be adhered to:

  • The award logo must be displayed on your blog.
  • You must link back to the person who nominated you.
  • You must nominate ten others you see as having an impact on your WordPress experience and family.
  • Your ten nominations should be notified.
  • According to Shaun: “That is it. Just please pick ten people that have taken you as a friend, and spread the love.”
  • We’ve already completed the first and second rules, so now for our nominations (in alphabetical order):

    And the award goes to...
    And the award goes to…

    James from After Dark Gaming
Each day James amazes us: the amount of content he manages to publish and how informative each article is is remarkable. He obviously puts a lot of time, work and effort into his blog.

    samdeacon from childeofthenight
Sam was one of our very first followers and he instantly struck us with his creativity. He effortlessly blurs the lines between fiction and reality, and really is a very gifted writer.

    John Heatz
Some may not agree with us nominating our nominator, but when they have such a great blog there’s no other option. We love John’s reviews and we look forward to seeing where he takes his site.

    jaymalk from Nostalgia and Gaming
This is a new blog is dedicated to retro gaming – and we definitely love a bit of retro gaming! We’re looking forward to seeing what jaymalk digs up at his next car boot sale or flea market.

    The guys at Poppycock Reviews
This blog has a great variety of content. The team members have day jobs or go to school, and it’s obvious that they put a lot of effort into creating something interesting every day.

    Becca M from Quicksave
It’s great to see more female gamers coming forward and giving their insight into the gaming world. Becca seems very down-to-earth and it’s a bonus that we share the same taste in games!

    The Dad, Gentleman Geek
The Dad gives real opinions on video games, movies and TV, and seems like a genuinely nice guy. If he’s ever in London we’d love to take him for a beer or two.

    The Gaming Grad
An aspiring developer, if his blog is anything to go by then he’ll certainly succeed. Plus he has a panda on his About page – what more could you ask for?

Matthew Thompson and Omarey Williams from The Whiteboard
A great mix of video game, music and TV information. We really enjoy reading Matthew and Omarey’s opinions – they seem like guys you can really get along with.

Mileson and Kafka Luck from What’s Your Tag?
Another of our earliest followers, this is blog of the quality that everyone aspires to have. A like from Mileson or Kafka Luck lets you know when you’re doing something right!

We'd like to thank our mums, dads, cats...
We’d like to thank our mums, dads, cats…

So that’s the first three rules taken care of. We’ll shortly be contacting each of our nominations in order to adhere to rule four, and now all that’s left to do is share the love.

Once again, a big thank you to all of our supporters. We’ve met so many lovely people since starting 1001-Up.com and it has been extremely hard to pick just ten blogs: all of our followers are fantastic and worthy of one of our Power-Up awards. If we haven’t name-checked you on our Big-Up page please contact us so we can put that right because you all deserve to be there.
